Writing

The first thing I can remember writing was an epic poem about knights and ladies back when I was around twelve years old. But I can’t remember a single word, don’t have the manuscript, and that’s probably just as well.

I’ve wanted to be a writer as long as I can remember but never applied myself to it with any great commitment until the spring of 2007.

However I did have a few successes along the way. I wrote a humor column for our local newspaper for three years and had a short story published by Standard Publishing. A children’s Kentucky historical fiction on the fourth grade level was published when KY history curriculum was changed from eighth to fourth grade level. I also won a statewide writing contest sponsored by the Lexington Herald Leader newspaper and I’ve won a few internet writing contests.

I’ve completed three Christian novels, one cozy mystery, one women’s fiction, and one mid-grade. I’m in the process of revising all three. So far they have not been published. In December 2009, Amy's 'Claus and the King' was produced by the West T. Hill Theatre in Danville, KY. Amy wrote the story, script and all musical numbers.

Voice of Joy Ministries has published several booklets and one book for sale at retreats and workshops.

I would greatly appreciate your prayers for this part of my life. I am rarely happier than when I’m typing away, with creative ideas pouring through my mind and fingers into the computer!

In 2008, I was able to attend the "Write His Answers" Philadelphia Writer's Conference because of the help of Marlene Bagnull and Cecil Murphey. It was a wonderful experience and I am so grateful to them and to the Lord. Our Father provides what we need in order to fulfill the calling He gives to us. Thank you for your prayers...don't quit now!
